Some days I feel spoiled, living in this city. I’m so close to museums and monuments that other people drive hours to see. Museums and monuments that I should visit more often, or give more respect. At the least, I should (one day!) start paying the suggested donation price of admission.
Museums are especially hard to visit them during summer when the sun outside is too much to miss. Central Park is there, warm and full of people playing softball, and everyone is happy! Museum days in our house are reserved for winter and rainy days. I suppose you can appreciate art more when it’s cold and gloomy outside. And the funny part is, even during the warm months, I find myself looking forward to those gloomy days.
Last winter Matthew and I made a goal to spend each visit in one section of The Met at a time, seeing each piece of art, until we’ve seen it all. I’m not sure we’ll ever finish — The Met is never ending and full of things to see — but I’m ready for the challenge again. So, bring it on, art world.
