I used to have a Secret Life List that clearly isn’t so secret because I’m telling you about it right now. It detailed all the things I planned to do throughout my life. Running a marathon had, of course, easily worked its way to the very top (it’s kind of our thing, no?), right above being rich and having, like, a ton of friends. Biking around the perimeter of Manhattan? No, somehow that one had missed the cut. But alas! Not to be outdone, I went ahead a did that, too. Seriously though, we did. Ask any real cyclist and they’d scoff at this. Ask me and I’d say, my thighs are screaming because I’m out of shape, and it was great. So there!
The real purpose of the bike ride, aside from just enjoying a pretty day in New York, was to stop by the 4Knots Festival at South Street Seaport to see a set by Nick Waterhouse and his band. He did a great job, I mean, he was on fire! It was also to finally explore all the free things there are to do, like kayaking in the Hudson. Did you know you can go just about any day of the week and kayak for free along the Hudson? It’s a nice way to cool off, and as it turns out, the city gives some pretty good sunsets.
